Shop-to-Stop Hypertension

Shop-to-Stop Hypertension is a 12-month public screening and research study run by The George Institute, University of New South Wales and SiSU Health. This innovative, community-facing project is designed to detect and manage raised blood pressure in adult Australians, whilst also raising population-wide awareness of hypertension.

The Shop-to-Stop Hypertension Study commences December 2023 in 30 Bunnings stores across NSW.

Background

Hypertension (the condition you have from high BP) is called the "silent killer" because most people who have raised BP do not have any symptoms. ⁵

The Shop-to-Stop Hypertension Study aims to engage and screen people where they live their lives, particularly higher-risk populations, and in rural and remote areas where there is lesser health access and equity. This approach seeks to improve the detection of people with hypertension, increase public and personal awareness of its risks, and to ensure that they seek medical care from their doctor.
