When is it more than the January blues?

Blue Monday, the third Monday in January is the gloomiest day of the year (according to a University Professor who calculated the most depressing day of the year using a complicated formula). And it’s common to feel a bit less cheery after all the fun of the festive period is gone, when money is a bit scarce and especially with the continuing uncertainty and impacts of Covid.

But when is this gloom more than just a passing low mood?

Signs to look for include feeling uninspired by everything, struggling more than usual to get out of bed, poor sleep, feeling constantly irritable and having difficulty concentrating, remembering details or making decisions.
